3-day BMA Core Induction

This course is suitable for:

New BMA employees and contractors who will work at a BMA site
Existing employees and contractors who have expiring induction qualifications

The BMA Core Induction covers the following content:

A BMA cultural introduction
The BMA Charter, Code of Conduct and Life Saving Rules
Introduction to BHP Billiton and the mine to market process
Health, safety and environment expectations
Workplace hazards, legal obligations, building a safety culture, Fitness for Work
BMA Safe, Job Safety Analysis and incident reporting

The BMA Core Induction course trains and assesses against the following units of competency:

RIIRIS201B Conduct local risk control
RIIOHS201A Work safely and follow occupational health and safety policies and procedures
RIIERR205A Apply initial response first aid
RIIGOV201A Comply with site work processes and procedures
RIICOM201A Communicate in the workplace and
RIIERR302A Respond to local emergencies and incidents

The course comprises of facilitated group activities, eLearning, simulations, practical training and competency assessments. The course is 3 days in duration and costs $850 excluding GST per contractor.

On completion of the course, the participant will be issued a Statement of Completion. On return of a completed Workplace Skills Validation from their BMA work site, the participant will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. Important:

The BMA Core Induction is not a generic induction. This program has been designed to meet BMA requirements. Do not attend this program unless you are a BMA employee or a contractor who is currently or who will be required to work at BMA.

Site Induction

This course is suitable for:

New BMA employees and contractors who will work at a BMA site
Existing employees and contractors who have expiring induction qualifications

The Site induction course consists of key site information including

An Introduction to the site
Details of the location and a welcome from the site GM
Site emergency procedures
The BMA Life Saving Rules
Health, safety and environment expectations specific to the site
Workplace hazards, legal obligations, building a safety culture, Fitness for Work
BMA Safe and incident reporting

The following BMA standard operating procedures (SOPs) profiled to the participant’s BMA work site are included in the course:

Personal protective equipment SOP
Manual handling SOP
Hazardous substances SOP and
Hazardous area access control SOP

Important Site Induction

This program has been designed to meet Site requirements. Do not attend this program unless you are a BMA contractor who is currently or will be required to work at the site. Each site has their own induction requirement and this program is designed only to meet the specific sites requirements.
The Site Induction is part of a complete BMA induction process including Safe Operating Procedures, Work Area Familiarisation and task specific training and assessment. Each part is aligned and attending the Site Induction in isolation will not meet BMA site entry requirements.
To complete the induction, a Work Area Familiarisation is required to be completed once an Inductee is on the site.

Please note that site access remains at the discretion of the Site Operational Management team and compliance with site requirements does not guarantee site access. All WAF bookings remain subject to Site review and refunds for inductions and expenses incurred will not be granted.

You will not be able to access the mine site to undertake your WAF unless you are registered as a visitor. Please ensure that your Site Contact / Escort has completed your registration.
