BMA Core Induction

Are there any prerequisites to do the course?

There are no prerequisites to undertake this course.

What will I receive on completion of the course?

On successful completion of the BMA Core Induction course you will receive the following documentation:

The certificate will be issued on the last day of the course. You will be required to present this documentation when booking your BMA site induction.

You will be required to complete a site induction including a Workplace Skills Validation prior to working on-site. On return of the Workplace Skills Validation documentation, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the six units of competency.

Is the training from the BMA Core Induction course transferrable?

On successful completion of the course and return of the Workplace Skills Validation, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment containing six units of competency. This is recognised by other registered training organisations (RTOs). Please check with the organisation for their specific criteria.

Is this course a Generic Induction (GI)/Generic Induction Queensland (GIQ)?

No. This course has been specifically created to meet BMA’s requirements to work at our organisation. This is not a Mining Industry Skills Centre GIQ program, and does not issue a GI Passport.

Do I need to complete a GI/GIQ before undertaking this course?

No. The BMA Core Induction course has replaced the requirement for a GI/GIQ to work at BMA sites.

How do I enrol in a course?

Contractors can enrol via the Enrol in a course menu or contact the Induction Training Centre (1300 887 185).

BMA employees must complete a Training Course Enrolment form and forward to the Training and Development team via the designated process.

How much does the course cost?

Core Induction (3 day event) $850
(Recommended if you have current Site induction and sop’s)

Core Induction (3 day event), Site Induction, SOP’s (4 hour event) and WAF (3 hour event on site) Package $950
(Recommended for new starters or contractors new to BMA)

Site Induction, SOP’s (4 hour event) & WAF (3 hour event on site) $150
(Recommended for employees and contractors who have a current BMA Core or SGS and are changing site or require a refresher)

The course schedules are available via the Enrol in a course menu. The schedule includes course locations, dates and enrolment availability.

What time do I need to arrive to the course?

Please ensure to arrive for registration by 7:30am on the first day of the course.

What time does the course finish?

The course will finish at approximately 5:00pm each day.

What do I need to bring to the course?

You must wear enclosed shoes and comfortable clothing. Photo identification is also required. The BMA Fit for Work Policy applies to attendance on this course.

What happens if I can’t attend on the day?

Contact the Induction Training Centre on 1300 887 185.

Do I need to complete a site induction after this course?

If you are working at a BMA mine site, you will need to attend a site induction that will train you in site-specific information including standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to the site and your role. Please contact your BMA site contact to organise a site induction once you have completed the BMA Core Induction.
